Which appliance and which water source?
Tell the provider which appliance was running, where the water appeared and whether it came from a supply hose or used-water discharge. That distinction helps the provider determine service fit before arranging an assessment.
Water behind cabinets and beneath flooring
Water may travel behind an appliance, beneath kickboards or into adjoining floor materials. Describe affected cabinets and rooms rather than only the original puddle. Ask whether removal or access is needed to assess hidden moisture.
Repair the appliance separately when needed
Cleanup does not automatically include appliance repair, reconnection or replacement. Ask who will diagnose the cause and when it is appropriate to return the appliance to use.
Preparing for the call
Have the appliance type, property ZIP, time of discovery and an approximate affected area ready. Mention visible mold or a persistent odor so the receiving provider can determine whether additional assessment is needed.
